    I recently listened to Russ Roberts’ interview of Vinay Prasad (https://www.econtalk.org/vinay-prasad-on-cancer-screening.) His claim is that the all-cause-mortality data on most preventive screenings, particularly mammograms and colonoscopies, are decidedly non-conclusive. With all the screenings that have been done and all the studies of the procedures, not being able to show that they increase life expectancy overall is pretty damning.

    I got a colonoscopy this year, well before hearing this interview, and I wasn’t sedated during the procedure. It was easy enough; I asked and the doctor said “sure”.
