We will start at the uphill end of Oakdale Avenue in San Rafael, assuming there's parking there. We will traverse to the east, crossing several streams. We will make short off-trail excursions on possibly steep slopes along those streams to see how many waterfalls we can find (you can wait on the trail here if you want). We will work our way up to ridges where we'll have views of the north bay. We'll follow a fire road north, then west, and head down an unmapped trail that heads off the ridge towards the civic center. I don't know where this trail goes, but we'll eventually return to the ridge somehow and follow relatively easy trails back to our trailhead.
The total distance may end up being anywhere from 6 to 12 miles (probably less than 9), and the elevation gain will be at least 2000 feet, probably less than 3000.
It may start raining by 4pm, so I'll try to finish the hike by then.
